He played the lead role of James "Sonny" Crockett in the 1980s TV cop series, Miami Vice, which led him to huge success. Johnson released two albums of pop music in the 1980s, one in 1986 and the other in 1989. His single "Heartbeat", the title track from his first album, and was a collaboration with 80s one hit wonder - Robert Tepper, reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Heartbeat is an album released by American television actor Don Johnson in 1986 on the Epic/CBS Records label. In the United States, the album reached #17 on the Billboard 200 album chart in October 1986 and was certified Gold by the RIAA in November 1986. The title track became a top 5 hit, peaking at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
