Doogie White & La Paz - New Album To Be Released In April

British band, Doogie White & La Paz, return with a brand new studio album entitled Shut Up And Rawk!. Almost immediately after their previous offering, The Dark And The Light (2013) had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo'd with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album. Recording could only be done in stages because of other commitments, but in many ways that extra time allowed the songs to develop and mature into a very powerful rock album, entitled Shut Up And Rawk!, which is due for a worldwide release via Metal Mind Productions on April 8th.

Chic McSherry, the band's guitarist comments: "The great thing about being in La Paz is that we have been together now for over 30 years and we all know each other extremely well. That helps a lot when writing new songs: we just know what to do. This record was a long time in the making though, mainly due to Doogie and Paul's touring schedule. The initial demo tracks were actually finished by me in 2013, literally within weeks of the release of The Dark And The Light. It was the same process we always use: I would write what I call a 'framework' using a drum machine and the basic guitar parts, send it to Doogie and he would say "yeah, I can work with that" or "no, doesn't work for me". We started with 17 of these ideas and reduced them to 11 workable songs. Shut Up And Rawk! took a while but it was worth it. Now we can't wait to get it released!"

The album has been mixed and mastered by Rolf Munkes at Empire Studios in Frankfurt, Germany. Full details to follow soon.

Second album for Demon's Eye featuring Doogie White on vocals

Demon's Eye is very happy and excited to announce that they will hit the studio on to record a new album featuring Doogie White! The album will be released in September followed by a tour in October 2015.

Drummer Andree Schneider: "I think that Demon's Eye and Doogie White are a great songwriting team. Over the last few months we have created wonderful songs. It is a joy to work with Doogie again. I can't wait for the release of the album!"

Doogie White: "This will be a high energy album full of exciting and vibrant songs. Difficult 2nd album? Not at all. The band have breathed brand new life into their classic sound. The guys in Demon's Eye have once again proved that they are more than capable of delivering strong ideas. It's a style of music I enjoy and relate with and I try to make what I bring to the party as colourful, challenging and as triumphant as I can. And I can't wait to be back on stage with Demon's Eye. The band is tight and honest, brutal and subtle. I am really looking forward to playing songs from the new album live, mixed in with a healthy selection from Deep Purple and Rainbow and of course the first Demon's Eye album The Stranger Within."

Metal Supergroup WAMI Featuring Doogie White Reveal Debut Album Detail

Comprised of lead vocalist Doogie White (Rainbow, Micheal Schenker, Tank), drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, Kill Devil Hill), bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), and up-and-coming guitarist Iggy Gwadera, WAMI have announced they will release their debut studio album "Kill the King" this Spring via Metal Mind Productions.

The project first came together following Gwadera's performance as the opening act for Thin Lizzy as part of the band Anti Tank Nun, who captured the interest of Marco Mendoza and later suggested the two collaborate in the studio. This collaboration would go on to evolve into the current lineup of WAMI.

So what exactly should fans expect to hear from this new supergroup? Vinny Appice answered this question during a recent interview with Metal Hammer: The music is quite heavy. but not as dark as, for example, Black Sabbath or Kill Devil Hill. It's melodic music, and very well performed. I would label it high-quality heavy rock.

"When I first heard that music, I really liked it. Later on, I was informed that the guitarist is only 16 years old. I thought, 'Wow, what an incredible instrumentalist.' And then I learnt that Marco Mendoza will be involved in this project and that made me even more interested in this idea. The demo versions of the tracks sounded very promising so I can't wait for the final results."

WAMI recently released the lead single from 'Kill the King'; "Guardian of Your Heart" is built around an engaging acoustic guitar riff, and features a guest appearance by Polish singer Piotr Cugowski. You can listen to the new track below.

30th Anniversary Year for Doogie White's & LaPaz

Update from the La Paz Facebook page:

This year is our 30th Anniversary Year believe it or not! We're trying to put together some special things to celebrate it and that starts with Hard Rock Hell on March 20th. We are closing the show on the Thursday night – which makes us the Headline Act for that night and that's a pretty good cool way to kick things off! Hope to see some of you guys there as it will be a great show with the best of Granite and The Dark And The Light played live.

The third album is also in pre-production and we had hoped to start recording drums this week but it looks like that will now happen after the Hard Rock Hell show. Fingers crossed that will be finished and released around November time.

November 8th is the Big Date: that was when we played our first ever gig as a band and it was to a bunch of drunken noisy Americans at a US Submarine base... what a night that was! Be nice to do a little tour around that time but it's a ways away and we obviously need to wait and see what Doogie and Paul will be doing with Michael Schenker and GUN respectively.

Still... there will be some interesting things happening this year for The Flying La Paz brothers and obviously we'll keep you guys posted as we go!

Doogie White Join Forces With 15-Year-Old Polish Guitarist

Vocalist Doogie White (Rainbow, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen), drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, DIO) and bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) have joined forces with 15-year-old Polish guitarist Iggy Gwadera in a brand new project which will see the light of day next spring.

The idea to record an album together was born after Thin Lizzy's concert in Poland. Mendoza — impressed with Iggy, who supported Thin Lizzy with his band Anti Tank Nun — suggested that they record some music together. This first idea, which was maturing for the next dozen-odd months, eventually evolved into the above-mentioned project, which is recording a brand new album with Iggy. Appice and Mendoza have already laying down the bass and drum tracks in Los Angeles. At the end of November, White will record his vocals and the album will be mixed before Christmas for an early 2014 release.

Michael Schenker's "Bridge The Gap" CD out in November

Award-winning, legendary guitarist Michael Schenker will release a brand new studio album entitled "Bridge The Gap" in the UK on Monday December 2nd. Released by in-akustik, the album features Schenker's band Temple of Rock which consists of ex-Scorpions Herman Rarebell (drums) and Francis Buchholz (bass), plus ex-Rainbow's Doogie White (vocals) and Wayne Findlay (guitar, keyboards).

Bridge the Gap will be released in Japan on November 13th, in Europe (excluding UK) on November 22 & in the UK on December 2. The USA have to wait till January 7th, 2014 for a release.

The new album features 13 hard-hitting, adrenalin fuelled melodic rock'n'roll songs that showcase Schenker's distinctive and explosive guitar playing, valiantly underpinned by the ferocious rhythm section of Rarebell and Buchholz, marking the first time Schenker, Rarebell and Buchholz appeared on the same album together since the Scorpions' 1979 Lovedrive.

Scottish vocalist Doogie White, who co-wrote the album with Schenker, soars across every song, and stamps his enthusiastic personality with every note and phrase. Wayne Findlay adds another dimension to the dynamic, classic Schenker sound with his Dean 7 string guitar and keyboard orchestrations.

Bridge the Gap is a thunderous, explosive collection of brand new songs steeped in shades of dark and light. Musically and lyrically, the new album shows a re-energised guitarist at the top of his game, surrounded by top drawer musicians.

The album was recorded from January to March 2013 at Kidroom Studios, Germany and was produced by Michael Schenker and Michael Voss, and engineered by Voss.

"Michael and I had talked about recording an album together after the tour of 2012," says Doogie White. "We never spoke about it again until January 2013 when he sent me seven ideas he had been working on.

"Last October I started writing the music for the new album," adds Schenker. "I sent material to Doogie in the New Year and he started writing melodies and lyrics. I laid down some arrangements at Michael Voss's studio. There was a lot of energy flying about during the recording process. I had the same drive making this album as I had when I was 16. I wanted it fast, heavy and melodic. It felt like bridging the gap from my teenage and Lovedrive years to what I am doing now. I'm back to where I was a long time ago and I love it."

"Never having really written with Michael before, apart from When the Devil Knows You're Dead (from 2011's Temple of Rock album), I didn't know how flexible he would be writing wise," recalls Doogie." I laid down some vocal tracks as ideas and when Michael heard them we were off and running. Within two weeks we were in the studio laying down tracks."

Schenker admits that when he wrote this album, he tried to get a balance between songs that are heavy, fast and melodic, complimented by his signature guitar solos.

"I wanted to combine the old with the new," says Schenker. "That's why the album's called Bridge The Gap. With Wayne playing 7-string guitar we created some low, heavy modern sounds. Since I play and experiment on a regular basis, I always have some new, fresh sparks to share when I record a new album. I am inspired from within. It's infinite like a kaleidoscope."

"As former members of the Scorpions, Herman, Francis and I have been out of the loop of rock'n'roll for quite a while. Getting together for the first time since the Lovedrive album is an incredible jump. We're connecting the past with the present. We're bridging the gap."

Schenker remains philosophical about the name of the new album. He believes the name reflects what is going on in the fast-moving world around him.

"Everything that is currently going on in this world is showing that people are desperate for change. We need to bridge the gap of poverty. There are too many innocent people getting killed in terrorist attacks. We need to leave all of this chaos behind us. We have to be strong. We have to continue moving forward, working together in a balanced way."

Schenker is amazed how melodic the new album turned out, but he still insists the songs still feature a bit of darkness as well.

"I came up with the name of the album, before I even started writing. When Doogie started writing the lyrics to the new songs he had something to go by. I guess Bridges Burned is a new song that is something of a word play on Bridge The Gap. I love this song. Doogie's singing is excellent on this."

Doogie White's Track by Track for Michael Schenker's "Bridge The Gap"

"I have a vocal studio at home. I received the tracks from Michael on the same day I started having construction done on the house. It was interesting to have no walls and lots of snow, no heating and zero temperatures and a hoard of builders staring in the windows. It's reflected in the lyrics... wind, cold and darkness."

Where The Wild Winds Blow - is a perfect example. When chorus kicks in I can see the audience rocking out. I always try to write for the live environment. That's when the songs really come alive.

Horizons – We started playing it live on the last tour. Herman's drumming is awesome on this track.

Lord Of The Lost And Lonely - has a Celtic vibe about it and the riff rocks and rolls. The chorus just bursts out on this song out, and drives right through. It's that small voice in the back of your mind that you know you really should listen to but can't.

Rock'n' Roll Symphony - features Wayne holding the tune down with the Hammond under Schenker's rolling riff. It's a celebration of rock'n'roll in all its guises. I took song titles and phrases from the wider rock community and wrapped them up into a lyric.

Live For The King - I was reading Richard Burton's Diaries and was thinking of how the stage, whether it is music, theatre or sport has a great hold on those who work it. It is hard to walk away when the spotlight dims. We don't do this for fame or fortune. We do it because it's who we are. It is our nature.

Land Of Thunder - Another thunderously paced song with Herman and Francis slaying all comers with their driving powerhouse rhythm. The listener can take what they want from the lyrics - different days, moods, and interpretation. This song will be amazing live.

Temple Of The Holy - has sinister undertones. It's a mid-paced song with a heavy riff and a melodic solo dancing majestically through the middle.

Shine On - The melody over the riff is not what you'd expect, but it really works.

Bridges We Have Burned - is the first song we wrote for the album. There is the chance, hopefully, of redemption for everyone. This was my way of asking for mine. If we can shake off our dark passengers, then, perhaps, the road may go on.

Because You Lied - is the song that tested us all. It is so simple but so off the wall. I sang it live in the studio on a hand held SM58 in one take. We were not sure what was going on, really. Michael plugged in and had fun, too much fun. It's not typical of us, but it's cool.

Black Moon Rising - The drama at the end of the song says more about it than I ever could.

Dance for the Piper - is the last song we wrote for the album. It's a rather splendid way to lead us forward banners held high, not into the sunset, but to new horizons.

Doogie White Sets Record Straight Regarding His Departure From Rainbow

Renowned Scottish singer Doogie White (pictured below), who has worked with such bands as Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen, Midnight Blue, Praying Mantis and Tank, has released the following statement to Blabbermouth:

"In the 16 years or so since I left Rainbow, I have never spoken publicly about my reasons for leaving. The truth is that I don't believe it's anyone's business but Ritchie's [Blackmore, Rainbow guitarist/mainman] and mine.

"It was therefore with some interest (and a raised eyebrow or two) that I listened to the [October 27] interview given by Candy [Ritchie's wife and Blackmore's Night bandmate Candice Night] on 103.9 WRCN-FM, Long Island's classic rock radio station [hear audio below; Candice's story begins around the 19-minute mark]. I have to say that her version of events came as a surprise to say the least.

"While I am not named specifically, it is implied that I was party to a move within the band to hold Ritchie to some kind of financial ransom at what turned out to be our final show. That show was in Denmark, at Esbjerg, not Sweden Rock as Candy said in the interview, and I recall it rather well. Who wouldn't, given what followed!

"I remember the night before that final concert when Ritchie, Cozy Powell [drums] and I sat drinking red wine, sharing tales and having a great time. If anyone had told me then that the very next night Rainbow would be no more, I would never have believed them. We played football together the next day, as usual, and all was well between Ritchie and me, as far as I knew.

"I cannot and do not speak for any of my former band mates, that is for them to do so, should they wish. For my part, though, at no point did I ever ask Ritchie, his management, or anyone else connected with Rainbow for more money. The notion that I was in a position of sufficient power to 'blackmail' Ritchie is pretty funny anyway. It was Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow after all. Of the future of Rainbow at that time, Ritchie and I had talked of a new album at the end of the U.S. tour in '97. That would come, I was told, after he had 'finished with Candy's album.' I actually took five song ideas to Esbjerg and gave him the tapes. You can find most of them on the Cornerstone album 'Human Stain'.

"I remember very clearly the conversation Ritchie and I had outside his dressing room that night after the show, and I remember the reasons why I did not sign that hastily reworked contract there and then. Those reasons are as valid today as they were on my return to London after the show (I returned to London on my own incidentally and did not, as has been suggested in the same interview, arrive at the plane the next day drunk with another band member). Those reasons are between Ritchie and I, they have remained private for many years, and they will remain so for many more, despite this silliness.

"For the record, Ritchie always treated me fairly. I got paid what I was contracted to get paid; whether it was publishing, performance fees or merchandise payments and I never had any issues or problems with him. I always appreciated that he gave me a big opportunity and took a chance on me. In return I gave him, Rainbow and the fans my very best.

"Even after I had left the band, there were a few occasions when Ritchie stepped in on my behalf when the new 'management' would not/could not help on certain matters. I am grateful to him for that. The only thing I wanted more of from Ritchie was time: more time to make great music with him. For what it's worth I believe that the reason Rainbow did not, has not and will not continue is because Ritchie wants to do something else... Blackmore's Night.

"He seems happy with what he is doing. I am happy with what I am doing. I wish him well and I hope that he wishes me the same. Neither I nor Ritchie will lose any sleep over this. And neither should you."

TANK with Doogie White - New Song Available For Streaming

British power metal mercenaries TANK — featuring Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar alongside ex-Rainbow/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-Bruce Dickinson bassist Chris Dale and drummer Steve Hopgood — will release their new album, "War Nation", on June 5 via MVD (one day earlier in Europe through Metal Mind Productions). The follow-up to 2010's "War Machine" was helmed by new hotshot producer Phil Kinman at his west London studios.

The first track from the album, "Don't Dream In The Dark", can be streamed using the SoundCloud player below.

Commented Evans: "As with our 'War Machine' album, 'War Nation' will include a variety of different influences and styles.

"With a wealth of musical ability to draw from, we don't like to limit ourselves.

"Individually we've worked with names such as Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Paul Di'Anno and Yngwie Malmsteen.

"So many bands release albums now where once you've listened to the first two songs you've heard the whole album. Not with TANK. Each song that makes it onto our album has to deserve it. Our standards are high."

Added White: "With songs like 'Justice For All' and 'Grace Of God', we are upgrading the TANK sound while retaining all the elements that made 'War Machine' so successful. There are killer riffs and haunting melodies and lyrics that you can take from, what you want, or indeed what you need."

Exclusive Benelux show for Demon's Eye featuring Doogie White

Rooster Rock Promotion has an exclusive concert lined up in the Maaslandcentrum in Elsloo (Limburg, The Netherlands) on Saturday November 17th by Demon's Eye featuring Doogie White ((ex-Blackmore's Rainbow) on vocals.

Demon's Eye will do a two hours show with songs by Deep Purple, Rainbow but also their last year released and much acclaimed debut album "The Stranger Within". The show is confirmed and is also announced on the official website of Demon's Eye now.

Demon's Eye really need no introduction and has proven their musically skills many times before. Not for nothing they did in the recent past several shows together with Jon Lord and Ian Paice of Deep Purple. Doogie White is obviously no stranger and has proven that he can excel in these shows and feels like a fish in water with this band.

Support act for this evening is the great Dutch Led Zeppelin tribute band Steeler. This band really brings out all the stops for the typical Zeppelin sound as close as possible with the approach of using effects and also the clothing is as authentic as possible to make it sound and look like Led Zeppelin.

Recently Steeler did very well in the final of the international band competition The Clash of the Cover Bands Benelux. Luca Giordano has been named the best guitarist of this competition. This is a full-length double-bill which the real fans of Classic Rock will appreciate very much.

Doogie White & La Paz – Debut Album Coming In February

Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce the release of an unique album in early 2012 – "Granite" by Doogie White & La Paz.

La Paz were formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). They had all been playing in the local music scene for a number of years and had run across each other often enough but the time hadn't been right to work together until then. At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level – they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. They decided to add keyboards right away as, at that time, the "classic" guitar/keys combination had declined from favour and it immediately made them different from the other all-guitar bands that dominated the circuit at that time. Andy Mason joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined and his middle-class parents were not at all happy about him hanging out with a bunch of rockers from the wrong side of the tracks. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap, although none of them died in bizarre gardening accidents or spontaneously combusted. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus.

La Paz played live regularly, sometimes playing up to a hundred gigs in a year. They played the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes and they were featured regularly in Kerrang! (Derek Oliver becoming a big fan of the band) and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal. But it was not to be – for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. These things happen in the music business but after five or six years of hard graft it was a real blow and sadly the band didn't survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now the mighty Tank. That was pretty much that for La Paz, apart from a single reunion gig about a year after the split and a brief appearance at a Glasgow rock club on Chic's 40th birthday.

And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio's Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar. It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! "We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday" said Chic.

And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. Three dates were booked and Doogie flew in from London the night before the first show to rehearse with everyone for the first time. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the notion of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was floated by Paul: "What if we just gave it a try..."

Chic: "Recording started in early 2011 and culminated in 'Granite', the album that we should have made back in the day. It has six of the live favourites: Too Good To Lose, This Boy, Lesson in love, Amy, What Do You Say, Still In Love as well as three brand new tracks: Just For Today, Young And Restless, Shame The Devil"

Production was by Doogie and Chic with mixing and mastering by the renowned Rolf Munkes gave it a final injection of adrenalin. "Granite" is an album with its roots in the past but its energy in the present. Metal Mind Productions will release "Granite" on 13th February 2012 in Europe and 6th March 2012 in USA (via MVD).

TANK featuring Doogie White Begins Work On New Album

Legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK — featuring Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar alongside ex-Rainbow/Yngwie Malmsteen frontman Doogie White and ex-Bruce Dickinson bassist Chris Dale and drummer Dave "Grav" Cavill (Zodiac Mindwarp) — have commenced work on the follow-up to last year's "War Machine" album for a spring 2012 release via Metal Mind Productions. According to a press release, the new material is "in a similar vein to 'War Machine', but with a heavier angle." Working songtitles so far include "One Thousand Deaths", "War Without End" and "Heavier Than Thou".

"War Machine" was released on October 25, 2010 in Europe via Metal Mind Productions (December 7, 2010 in the U.S. through MVD). The production was handled by Pedro Ferreira (The Darkness, Therapy?, Meatloaf) and the bulk of the recording was done at Pedrock Studios in London. Drums were laid down by Tony Newton at Steve Harris' (Iron Maiden) Barnyard Studios.

"War Machine" was made available in four different versions: as a jewel case CD, a limited-edition digipak CD including two bonus tracks and LP with one bonus track. The Japanese edition of the album includes two exclusive bonus tracks which aren't available elsewhere.

Doogie White's solo album titled "As Yet Untitled" out on October 24

Metal Mind Productions will release Doogie White's solo album, "As Yet Untitled", on October 24 in Europe and November 7 in the U.S. (via MVD).

The Scottish vocalist came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed Rainbow. They recorded one album together — "Stranger in Us All". Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for over a six-and-a-half-year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with Cornerstone and is currently the lead singer of TANK, who embark on selected European dates starting this August.

According to a press release, "As Yet Untitled" is a collection of 10 dramatic and hard-hitting rock songs co-written by White and some good friends he has made over the years on the rock scene.

Commented White: "I always thought my first solo album should be called this. The journalists at Sounds and Kerrang! always had a line that so and so are in the studio recording an album, as yet untitled… Well, now I have actually done that.

"I always like to be part of a band but I found myself isolated for a short while and decided to record some of the songs that I had been working on, while either on the road or back at home.

"I won't sit around and wait for the phone to ring. A bored Doogie is a dangerous thing!

"I gathered the good and the great, companions who had travelled the world with me at various times. Friends who I knew were outstanding players and to a man and one beautiful woman they gave freely of their talents and time. I am forever in their debt."

The list of guest musicians involved in the recording of "As Yet Untitled" looks impressive:

* Patrick Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen) - Drums
* Thomas Broman (Glenn Hughes) - Drums
* Derek Sherinian (Black Country Communion) - Keyboards
* Tony Carey (Rainbow) - Keyboards
* Neil Murray (Whitesnake) - Bass
* Greg Smith (Ted Nugent) - Bass
* Paul Logue (Eden's Curse) - Bass
* Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) - Guitar
* Marcus Jidell (Royal Hunt) - Guitar
* Phil Hilborne (Queen Musical) - Guitar
* Mick Tucker (Tank) - Guitar
* Patti Russo (Meatloaf, Cher) - Guest vocals.

The album was recorded at various studios in Florida, Germany, and Scotland but most of the production was handled in Sweden with Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall) at the helm.

Added White: "Pontus and I became great friends through our time with Yngwie. He shone a bright light on the songs with his production. He brought a certain calmness to the madness and made sure that everything that was in the song had to be there for a reason. Even when the hard drive with the initial mixes was stolen, I knew that Pontus could sort it out."

Update:

The track listing is as follows:

01. Come Taste The Band
02. Time Machine
03. Dreams Lie Down And Die
04. Lonely
05. Land Of The Deceiver
06. Secret Jesus
07. Sea Of Emotion
08. Catz Got Yer Tongue
09. Living On The Cheap
10. Times Like These

Doogie White To Guest On KRUK Album

Scottish rock singer Doogie White (Yngwie Malmsteen, Rainbow, Cornerstone, Tank) makes a guest appearance on the second studio album from Polish hard rockers KRUK, due on June 6 via Metal Mind Productions. White contributes his vocals to a track called "In Reverie".

KRUK members Piotrek Brzychcy, Tomek Wisniewski and Krzysztof Walczyk first met White in 2005 when they shared the stage with Yngwie Malmsteen in Katowice. "We were extremely happy that, after the gig, we could give each other high five, that we could make some commemorative photos," Piotrek says. "Now [Doogie] sings in our song, he sings our lyrics... on our album. It's hard to believe!"

He adds, "I remember one of my first conversations with Krzysiek Walczyk, when we expressed our utmost delight over Rainbow's 'Strangers in Us All'. It was back when we were just starting to form KRUK and we had never dreamed that we would ever have the honor of cooperating with Doogie White. We adored White for having set new standards in the Purple-Rainbow family with the way he sang with Blackmore.

"What he recorded for 'In Reverie' is to our utmost satisfaction because you can hear passion and joy in every single note. I don't think there's a more happy band today in the entire universe than us!"

Demon's Eye have updated their website. It's now not only available in German but also in English language.

The debut album "The Stranger Within" by Demon's Eye featuring Doogie White will be released on March 18th (a few days earlier than previously reported). Demon's Eye CD featuring Doogie White on vocals to be released on March 21th

On 21 March 2011 Demon's Eye will release their debut album "The Stranger Within". It will contain 12 Classic Hard Rock songs.

The album will also be available in stores, but may also be ordered shortly on their website. On the site a limited edition premium package can be ordered with CD, original autographs, T-shirts and stickers. The autographs and the Premium Package can only be ordered via this website. Elsewhere, there will be only the normal CD without autographs. The shirt is made exclusively for the Premium package. It can therefore not bought elsewhere, including on Demon's Eye concerts. The CD has a 16-page booklet includes all texts and great live and studio photos.

"The Stranger Within is a great sounding album with great songs," says Doogie White. The former singer from Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen had from the beginning a good feeling when he started to develop his vocal ideas for the songs: "When I heard the instrumental demos in the spring of 2010 for the first time, I came right away with ideas. I heard the songs and I started to sing right away. It just worked."

The band can not and will not deny the influences of their idols. Still, "The Stranger Within" will impress with originality. The album will be still stylistically reminiscent of Deep Purple and Rainbow, however, it include new compositions and nothing sounds plagiarized. Demon's Eye hope to give the Deep Purple and Rainbow fans with "The Stranger Within" what they would like to hear today from Ritchie Blackmore & Co, but won't get anymore from them.

Doogie stated: "If I would not have liked the song material or I would have thought not being able to develop any good ideas, I wouldn't have done it. No money in the world could have change that. Demon's Eye are the best Deep Purple Tribute Band I have seen so far. Just forget this is a Deep Purple tribute band and listen to the album. These are fantastic songs that are played by excellent musicians. Turn up the volume, take out the air guitar and go on rocking, because that is what I did when I heard the finished album at home!"

New shows will be scheduled early in 2010 when both are fit and well enough to play and we apologise to those folk who had made arrangements to come see us.

Doogie adds: The solo tour of Finland in October has been cancelled under doctors orders. Doogie ruptured his Achilles Tendon playing football last week and will remain in plaster for 12 weeks. "I feel such an ass but these things happen. Its a huge disappointment not to be able to play these shows. We will reschedule them for early next year."

Said Doogie. "The doctors have said I should not fly for a while. I cant stand and mobility is not easy. I hope to be able to play the Demons Eye show in November. By then the angle of the foot may allow me to put some weight on it."

"Ritchie never tried to bash a guitar over my head"

German Fansite Blackmore's World did an exclusive interview with Doogie White. All questions were about Doogie's time in Rainbow. One of the questions was "Did Ritchie ever destroy a guitar again in the 95-97 period?".

Doogie answered: "No. He only had 2 guitars on tour. New number 1 and number 2. There was a smasher in the guitar case but it is probably still there. That was the only disappointment for me in the 3 or so years I worked with him. That he never tried to bash a guitar over my head."

Tank featuring Doogie White have recorded 2 new studio tracks

Rock Radio reports: The revamped lineup of NWOBHM stars Tank will unveil two new tracks on their Myspace page on Monday June 1, singer Doogie White tells Rock Radio.

White, who's performed with Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Praying Mantis, La Paz and many other rock bands, is now fronting Tank and cowriting material with guitarist Mick Tucker.

Writing in his Rock Radio guest blog, White says: "I just recorded vocals on a couple of new Tank songs, "Great Expectations" and "Phoenix Rising", that I wrote with Mick. The songs will get their first airing at Sweden Rock on June 6, where we're opening for Heaven and Hell, then we have shows at various festivals around Europe. You can here them from June 1 at www.myspace.com/tankheavymetal."

In his guest blog White also discusses the MPs' expenses scandal, Lynyrd Skynyrd's classic track Freebird and the memories of trooping round Scotland's rock venues in the 70s and 80s. White will perform with original band La Paz in Scotland again soon, and is continuing work on his solo album and other projects.

Update from the Tank Myspace site:

We are in the studio at the moment mixing the new tracks. They should be up online in the next few days. Sorry for the delay but I'm sure you'll agree they are well worth waiting for.

Doogie White festival appearance & to tour with Moonstone Project in the fall

MOONSTONE PROJECT, the ambitious musical creature of Italian guitarist Matt Filippini, has inked a worldwide deal with Blistering Records for the project's new album "Rebel On The Run".

According to a press release, "Rebel On The Run" features the amazing voice of James Christian (House of Lords) on all but one track. That 11th track happens to be "Closer Than You Think", a soulful original written and performed by the voice of rock himself, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath).

While the predecessor to this release, "Hidden In Time", has become a reissued collectible favorite in the neo-classic rock underground, that album related more the "project" part of the group's name, with 10 different singers (including Graham Bonnet) and 20 musicians collaborating. "Rebel On The Run" has an intentionally more consistent "band" feel. But fret not, there are still plenty of stunning guest appearances from hard rock royalty Ian Paice (Deep Purple) and Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull) on drums to legendary Hammond organ maestro Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep) adding his distinct, wild keyboard flourishes! Lead vocalist James Christian's wife, solo artist Robin Beck, also layers many unique backing vocals into the colorful fabric of this warm recording.

Spring and summer concerts to support the album are already being announced, starring Glenn Hughes, as well as a festival and fall tour featuring former Rainbow/Yngwie Malmsteen crooner Doogie White!

"Rebel On The Run" is scheduled for a late May release.

Upcoming MOONSTONE PROJECT concerts:
Mar. 08 - University Square, Tirana (Albania) (feat. Glenn Hughes)
Mar. 10 - Black Horse, Cermenate CO (Italy) (feat. Glenn Hughes)
May 15 - Motorock Festival, Cremona (Italy) (feat. Doogie White)
Jul. 18 - Parco Comunale, Taino VA (Italy) (feat. Glenn Hughes)

Doogie White joins British Power Metal Legends TANK

The legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK have re-grouped and are ready for battle once more. The release of the "Dogs of War" boxed set last year on Metal Mind Productions was a great success, which led to the inevitable re-release of the entire back catalog.

This has proven very popular with the band's die-hard fans and helped to amass a new army of young devotees worldwide. TANK is very much in demand on the live front after being absent from the touring circuit for several years. With an unmistakable attitude and energy to its trademark sound, TANK now has a new all-star line-up fully equipped to crush everything in its path.

Joining Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar will be original TANK drummer Mark Brabbs alongside two new recruits — ex-Rainbow/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale. Unfortunately, original TANK vocalist/bassist Algy Ward has decided to retire from active service and will concentrate his efforts on writing his autobiography.

One of the most influential formations which emerged in the beginnings of the NWOBHM madness was TANK — a fierce, ambitious young band, taking all that was the best in punk and metal to a higher level. The group was formed in Croydon (London, England) in 1980 by Alasdair "Algy" Mackie Ward, an experienced front man who wanted to go beyond his previous musical experiences, which included playing in THE SAINTS and THE DAMNED.

Metal Mind Productions released the complete discography of TANK: "The Filth Hounds of Hades - Dogs of War 1981 - 2002" in November 2007. The collection, containing TANK's full discography extended with exclusive bonus material, is available in two editions: as a nine-CD box (8CD+DVD) and a six-LP box.

Classic Rock 'Flashback' Tour with Doogie White cancelled

A nearly 50 dates U.S.A arena tour called "Flashback - The Classic Rock Experience" by the Mystic Orchestra was cancelled earlier this year. The show should have a full rock band, a string section, multiple vocalists and a laser/light show. One of the singers included was supposed to be Doogie White. The tour was launched at the Mobile Civic Center in Alabama on August 27th. It is not known how many dates have been played.

The show should have had songs by Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Janis Joplin and Deep Purple. The first leg of the show was planned for November 2008 and a second leg for February 2009. The latest news is that "the tour is on hold till further notice". It looks like it won't happen anymore though....

The official website for this project is www.flashbacktour.com. You can check some live clips of the show featuring Doogie White here: Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway To Heaven".

New Cornerstone album expected in 2009

Doogie White reports on the Offical Cornerstone website: Once again we want to thank you for your continued support, patience and good humour. The lack of information about what the band is doing is because until recently we were not sure what we were doing . The reasons are legion, many that are not for anyone but those concerned. We have not lost interest in what we do and everyone in the band is still keen to continue on the rocky course that we have set ourselves on.

I had a long chat with Steen and he sent me a couple of ideas he had. Unfortunately they were rubbish and I sent him back to redo everything... Ah!!! but I lie my dear friends. The ideas were...glorious. Raw but dangerous and glorious.

The great great masterplan is that everybody will contribute in the songwriting process this time around, throw all of their killer ideas in the pond and produce another outstanding Cornerstone album.

Its difficult to say how the next year will pan out for the band. But I feel that we can have a new album in the next 12 months or so.

Doogie White to perform in Athens Greece

Vocalist Doogie White (Cornerstone, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, Rainbow) is heading off to Athens, Greece for a solo show at Texas Necropolis (formerly Underworld Club) on Friday, December 5. He will perform songs from his time in Rainbow, Cornerstone and Empire as well as a couple of favorites from Iron Maiden and Deep Purple.

Commented Doogie: "I am really excited to be doing this show. I have never been to Greece before but have many 'friends' there. I wanted to keep it exclusivley to material that I had written or contributed to but the promoter asked if I would do some covers. So I picked a couple that I hope that the metalheads in Athens will want to hear me sing."

Upon his return from Greece, Doogie will fly to Frankfurt, Germany to record vocals from the English-language version of the brand new album from RATA BLANCA, the multi-million-selling Argentine band led by guitarist Walter Giardino.

Stated Dogie: "Walter and I have known each other for years and he is truly an inspirational guitarist. We have been trying to find some musical adventure to do together and this popped up. So I will be in Germany for the first time in a long time to record."

Before heading off to Greece, Doogie will play two shows with Deep Purple tribute act Demon's Eye:

Nov. 28 - Spirit Of 66 - Verviers, Belgium
Nov. 29 - Blues Garage - Hannover-Isernhagen, Germany

Demon's Eye has previously played shows with Deep Purple's Ian Paice guesting on drums.

In the meantime he continues to work on his solo album "As Yet Untitled".

Doogie White to perform with German Deep Purple Tributeband

German Deep Purple Tributeband Demon's Eye has found a remarkeble replacement for 2 gigs when their singer Bernd Martin has other commitments. Bernd will sing for the Rock Classic Allstars. So Demon's Eye needed a temporary replacement and contacted Doogie White.

The ex-Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen singer agreed right away to sing the 2 shows. The dates are November 28 in Verviers, Belgium and November 29 in Hannover-Isernhagen, Germany.

Doogie White sings cover of L.A. Connection on New Iain Ashley Hersey CD

"Nomad" features a allstar lineup including Doogie White (Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Cornerstone), Jochen Mayer (Casanova, Demon Drive, Domain), Frank Kraus (Demon Drive) Paul Logue (Edens Curse), Holger Seeger (Midnite Club). Born in New Hampshire and growing up in New England, Iain cut his teeth on the heavier British Blues Rock Bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Bad Company and guitar players like Beck, Blackmore and Hendrix. Later seeking to develop his musical vocabulary he studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he expanded his musical realm into that of jazz improvisation, eventually to return to the fold of Rock and Blues.

Iain comments, "There was something about the pull of ones roots and missing the power that comes with simplicity. Relocating to Los Angeles, he spent a year as a student at Musician*s Institute in Hollywood. "More of an excuse to get settled into LA"... "I skipped all the main classes as I already knew all that stuff from Berklee and basically just hung out and played with Joe Diorio, Frank Gamballe and Scott Henderson." At the end of the year, he was invited on as an instructor which he did for the next six years. For more info: http://www.myspace.com/iainashleyhersey

Doogie White only sings on one song, a cover of Rainbow's "L.A. Connection".

You can order the CD at Perris Records.

Eden's Curse 'The Second Coming' with Backing Vocals by Doogie White

AFM Records (Germany), Metal Mayhem Music (North America) and Spiritual Beast (Japan) have announced the return of multi-national melodic metallers EDEN'S CURSE and their sophomore studio release, "The Second Coming".
Doogie White who also sang backing vocals on Eden's Curse selftitled first CD is again present to do backing vocals.

Once again production duties were handled by PINK CREAM 69 bassist and producer extraordinaire Dennis Ward (ANGRA, KROKUS, SILENT FORCE, ALLEN/LANDE) as the band have truly "upped the ante" in terms of song writing, performance and production. Assisting Michael Eden (vocals), Thorsten Koehne (guitar), Paul Logue (bass), Pete Newdeck (drums) and Ferdy Doernberg (keyboards) in creating this huge wall of sound is none other than the voice of TNT, STARBREAKER, WESTWORLD and now a solo artist, Tony Harnell, who sings backing vocals on the whole album. Former Rainbow and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman and current CORNERSTONE and EMPIRE vocalist Doogie White once again returns to the aid the Curse Choir along with the ever-present Carsten Schulz of EVIDENCE ONE, MIDNITE CLUB and Roger Staffelbach's ANGEL OF EDEN fame. Also featured is vocalist Pamela Moore, best known for her performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation: Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II", who duets with Michael Eden on the power metal anthem "Angels & Demons".

Frontman Michael Eden comments: "With the assistance of our personal graphic artist Thomas Ewerhard (ASIA, EDGUY, AVANTASIA, JORN, MASTERPLAN) and the amazing talent of his photographer of choice Steffi Veenstra (DORO, TANKARD, VANDEN PLAS), I believe EDEN'S CURSE are ready to ignite even the biggest melodic naysayer. My boys and I will deliver an ass kicking few have seen in a decade or more for our type of music, and that I'll lay our reputation on. Trust me when I say... EDEN'S CURSE will deliver the goods like very few can in 2008. There is good, there is great and then there is freaking amazing! You be the judge. The music will do the talkin' in October!!"

"The Second Coming" will be released in Japan via Spiritual Beast on October 15, North America via Metal Mayhem Music on October 22 and finally in Europe via AFM Records on October 24.

Classics in Rock with Joe Lynn Turner & Doogie White is CANCELLED

Today, on April's fools day of all days, we received the bad news that the Classics in Rock Event that should have featured Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White amongst other performers including Eric Martin, Fish, Chris Thompson, Andy Scott and Ian Parry has been cancelled. This is the 2nd big rock event that has been cancelled recently in The Netherlands. Last week Fields of Rock was cancelled due to poor ticketsales and the lack of good headliners. No reason yet is given why the Classics in Rock Event has been cancelled, but most likely it's again poor ticketsales.

Doogie White says: "The Classics in Rock show at the Ahoy is cancelled. So for any of you who were going to attend, sorry. The JLT DTW duet will no doubt be a sorely missed highlight of the show that never was."

Lisa Walker (JLT's virtual assistent) now also has confirmed the cancellation: "Just got word from JLT's manager... the Rotterdam show has been cancelled".

Update:
The promotors of both Classics in Soul and Classics in Rock, New Road Media & Ahoy Rotterdam, have announced in a press report the reason both shows are cancelled is due to poor ticketsales.

People who have bought a ticket can return it before October 10, 2008 and get a refund at the known ticket sales addresses or at the Ahoy Hall.

Doogie White to duet with Joe Lynn Turner at 'Classics in Rock' on April 12

Doogie White will be heading off to The Ahoy, Rotterdam in April, to perform at Classics in Rock. "I have been learning and rehearsing some songs. I am gonna work in London with the band, singing songs by the other singers. It just makes it easier for the band to know whats going on if there is someone singing along. Its a lot of fun actually and I am learning some new chops from great singers like Jimi Jamieson and Eric Martin".

Speaking of the former Mr Big vocalist, both he and I will be giving a guided tour of the stage and back stage area, answering questions, bursting spontaneously into song and hosting a pre show event for VIP package holders. Out of all the singers appearing I only know Ian Parry and Joe Lynn Turner. JLT and I have agreed on the song we are going to sing together. It's tough trying to find a good classic rock song to duet on but we have come up with a cracker. Of course as soon as you pick one and the band start working on it, suggestions start pouring in. Still I am looking forward to singing on stage with Joe and then sharing a nice cold beer with him afterwards."

Doogie White has been writing and recording his first solo album

Doogie White has been writing and recording his first solo album over the last few months.

Doogie White got again some very excited news for us: "As Ronnie is off with Tony Iommi, touring and working on a new Heaven and Hell album I thought it was time to do some writing with my good friend Mr Craig Goldy. We have written 5 songs together. I have also been working with Paul Logue from Edens Curse. In total we have 16 killer tunes to work on. I have assembled the great, good and unwashed for this. We started in the autumn last year, kicking ideas around. Between us we have come up with some dynamic and aggressive rawk songs covering a colourful spectrum of hard rock. The drums were recorded in Florida late last year and we are now laying down the guitars, bass and keyboards.

So far I have secured the awesome talents of Craig Goldy and Pontus Norgren, Rudy Sarzo, Neil Murray and Greg Smith, Patrik Johansson and the very splendid Derek Sherinian. In addition to these guys Rata Blanca's guitarist and mainman Walter Giardino has agreed to play on a couple of songs. It's early days but the album is coming together very nicely. Its good to be stepping out and not be in the constricts of a band situation where the demands of others sometime outway the sensibility and understanding of the songs. I believe the work we have done so far is interesting, different and valid. Fuck me!! I sound like a car sales man, but its true, this will be an album that covers many aspects of music that I have enjoyed over the years and then some.

I have also contacted my old friend Ritchie Blackmore's management to asked if he would be interested in playing on a song or two. Hell we could even work on some of the ideas we had for the aborted follow up to SIUA. While I don't think he will, I thought it only polite to ask."

Doogie White and Yngwie Malmsteen have decided to part company

Vocalist Doogie White and Yngwie Malmsteen have decided to part company after 6 and a half years together. Doogie joined the band in Sept 2001 and recorded two albums Attack and Unleash the Fury.

"I had a long chat with Yngwie today and it is clear that he wants to move musically in a new direction. It's great news that he will be expanding on his undoubted talents both as a writer and guitarist. I just want to thank, publically, Yngwie and the many band members past and present that I have worked with. It seems appropriate that we started our working relationship in South America in Sept 2001 and finished in South America in Dec 2007."

"Now anyone need a singer??"
